Description: APOE Insight evaluates specific genetic variants of the APOE gene, including APOE2, APOE3, and APOE4. Certain APOE variants, particularly APOE4, are associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. APOE testing does not diagnose Alzheimer’s disease or determine whether an individual will develop the disease, but it can provide additional information about an individual’s genetic risk profile.
Testing may be considered for individuals who:
- Want additional information about Alzheimer’s-related genetic or biomarker factors
- Have a family history of Alzheimer’s disease
