Description: Glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65) is an enzyme that is produced primarily by pancreatic islet cells. This is one of the most commonly detected autoantibodies in newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics (about 70-80%). Generally used to confirm type 1 diabetes and ruling out type 2 diabetes.
